Better than Bed: TED & Big Questions

Have you ever heard of TED? It’s a place I’d love to be a fly on the wall — especially this year considering they’ll be addressing “Big Questions.” But the $6,000 price tag is a bit steep.

If you’ve never taken a look at their talks, it’s worth it. There are some amazing topics addressed — that is if you consider avoiding aging amazing, or the idea that great cars are art.

And then there’s this guy — Jonathan Harris. His talk is fascinating. He explains how the software he’s designed essentially captures what we say each day in places like kellementology and attaches them to others who are saying similar things. Does Dubyah know he doesn’t have to spy on us now? It’s all there for the listening.

I know. You knew about this already. Fine. Indulge me.

But have you checked out Universe yourself? It’s amazing. Especially if you watch all of Jonathan Harris’ talk first…

And what else am I supposed to do on a night when the MoH is still at work?

That would be quite the concept, wouldn’t it?

Maybe TED will tackle that as one of the Big Questions.

  2. WOW!!! He is Brilliant! A Genius on a whole other level. His talk was fascinating. I can’t wait to browse through Universe. Thanks for sharing this!! I could see myself becoming addicted to it….
Oh a side note, your Mom visited my Blog, and I have to say I adore her. She does not look her age, and she seems to have a good sense of humor!

  3. “The Universe” I found via “The Edge” which I read every time they email me a reminder, lol.

I’ve never heard Harris speak in real life though I’d love to. I

I’ll have to share this with my Ted. I watched just 10 minutes, but that guy sure is a good speaker and comesw across as super intelligent.

  5. meleah, did you check it out yet? It makes me wonder…

Chefmom — He really is. I wonder about people like this. I’ll be he didn’t like sitting in classrooms. About my mom…Hmmm…I haven’t wanted to know where her blog is. I’m trying to give her some privacy. Yanno?

Cooper — I’m not remembering the Edge…I’m sure it will come to me in the middle of the night when I least want it to. If you have 6 K, I’ll go with you to TED. If you don’t mind being with a seasoned female. It would most likely be more interesting than your grad classes.

loripea…I was hoping you’d see this! I did send a link to your TED, tho, I think…

  6. Ah – A little pricey yes?
I’m sorry to inform you you are one of the few tags I’ve ever actually tagged people with…uh…congratulations.

    Anytime in 2008 is fine,.

  7. Uh…Cooper…I got a glimpse…just before bed and I’m afraid to go back. How much will you give me if I get it done before next week? I’m not really sure what “it” is yet, but still…

  8. What I reallt like is that he’s all technical. It’s about feelings and thoughts and pictures, etc. So Cool!! And I totally understand about your Mom’s blog 🙂
